Agon-Coutainville

Agon-Coutainville is a seaside resort in the Manche department, on the western coast of the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy. It is known for its long, fine sandy beach stretching several kilometres, popular with land-yachting enthusiasts thanks to the strong tides and steady winds typical of this western coastline. The seafront promenade, known as the Corniche, is lined with Belle Époque villas that reflect the town's development as a holiday destination from the 19th century onwards. Nearby, the Havre de Regnéville, a sheltered tidal inlet, is home to oyster and mussel farms that have given the area its reputation for high-quality shellfish. The town also has an 18-hole golf course set in a scenic coastal location. Further inland, marshes and dunes offer walking trails suited to exploring the local coastal wildlife and vegetation. The mild oceanic climate, with gentle summers, supports outdoor activities for much of the year. Agon-Coutainville remains a quiet, family-friendly destination, typical of traditional Normandy seaside resorts.
