Ste Marie Plage

Sainte-Marie Plage is a seaside resort on the Catalan coast of the Pyrénées-Orientales, around ten kilometres north-east of Perpignan. It forms part of the Côte Radieuse, the long stretch of fine sandy beaches running between Argelès-sur-Mer and Le Barcarès. The town has a marina and a wide, seasonally supervised beach, popular for swimming and watersports such as sailing and paddleboarding. The Tramontane, a wind typical of the region, also makes it a favoured spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The surrounding countryside, shaped by the agricultural plain of Roussillon, offers cycling routes linking neighbouring resorts such as Canet-en-Roussillon and Torreilles. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and strong year-round sunshine, encourages outdoor pursuits. Its proximity to Perpignan makes it easy to explore inland areas, including the foothills of the Pyrenees and the historic sites of Roussillon. Overall, the destination is geared primarily towards family-friendly, summer seaside tourism rather than cultural sightseeing.
