Ste-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio

Sainte-Lucie de Porto-Vecchio is a coastal hamlet within the commune of Porto-Vecchio, in southern Corsica, set along the shores of the gulf of the same name. The area is best known for its proximity to the sheltered bays of Cala Rossa and San Ciprianu, both popular for their calm, clear waters and pine-fringed Mediterranean scrubland. The hilly hinterland is home to several well-regarded vineyards, reflecting a long-standing local tradition of grape growing on granite slopes. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, makes the area well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking through the maquis, water sports, diving and boat trips to nearby coves. The town of Porto-Vecchio itself, just a short drive away, offers a Genoese citadel, a lively marina and a range of shops and restaurants, while Sainte-Lucie retains a quieter, more residential feel. The wider gulf area has historic links to salt production and fishing, traditional activities of the coastline.
