Portsall/Porsguen

Portsall is a small coastal village within the commune of Ploudalmézeau, in the northern Finistère region of Brittany, set along the aptly named Côte des Légendes between Brignogan and Le Conquet. This traditional Breton fishing port is best known as the site of the Amoco Cadiz oil tanker disaster in 1978; one of the vessel's anchors is displayed at the harbour as a reminder of this significant event in French environmental history. The area is valued today for its unspoilt natural setting, with fine sandy beaches, rocky outcrops and open views across the Iroise Sea towards the islands of Molène and Ouessant. It's well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking the GR34 coastal path, sand yachting, shore fishing and birdwatching. The oceanic climate, often marked by strong winds, gives the landscape its characteristically wild, rugged charm typical of Finistère.
