Lanton

Lanton is a town on the Arcachon Bay in the Gironde department, valued for its natural setting between pine forests and the shoreline. The village comprises several districts, including Cassy and Taussat, which border the bay and offer views over the water, oyster huts and the oyster beds typical of the region. Oyster farming plays a significant role in the local economy, and visitors can buy shellfish directly from producers based along the shore. Nature lovers enjoy walking or cycling along the cycle paths linking the various towns around the bay, as well as the maritime pine landscapes characteristic of the Aquitaine coast. Cassy harbour serves as a base for water sports such as sailing and paddleboarding, thanks to the bay's calm waters. The proximity to Arcachon, La Teste-de-Buch and the bay also makes it easy to reach the Dune du Pilat. The mild oceanic climate, pleasant for much of the year, makes Lanton suitable for stays in any season, though spring and summer are particularly popular.
