Contis Plage

Contis-Plage is a seaside resort on the Landes coast, part of the municipality of Saint-Julien-en-Born in south-west France. It is best known for its black-and-white striped lighthouse, built in the 19th century, which overlooks the seafront and serves as a landmark visible from the beach. The Atlantic Ocean here offers supervised swimming in season and is well suited to surfing, a popular activity along this stretch of coastline. The resort is surrounded by the region's characteristic pine forest, providing walking trails and numerous cycle paths linking neighbouring seaside towns. Nearby, the Courant d'Huchet, a natural waterway winding through the forest to the sea, can be explored on foot or by canoe within a protected nature reserve. Contis-Plage draws mainly family and summer visitors, with accommodation dominated by campsites and holiday residences. The temperate oceanic climate brings mild summers, ideal for outdoor pursuits, within the calm, natural setting typical of the Landes coastline.
