Lignano Pineta

Lignano Pineta is a seaside resort in Friuli Venezia Giulia, north-eastern Italy, set along the Marano Lagoon and the Adriatic coast. It is notable for its distinctive spiral-shaped town plan, designed by architect Marcello D'Olivo in the 1950s, and for the pine woodland lining its streets and residences, which gives the resort its name. The fine sandy beach stretches for several kilometres, with a gently sloping shoreline well suited to families. The seafront features bathing establishments, shaded green spaces and cycle paths connecting Pineta to the neighbouring, livelier district of Lignano Sabbiadoro. The resort offers sports facilities including golf, tennis and watersports, along with parks such as Parco Hemingway, named after the writer who spent time in the region. The mild, sunny summer climate makes it a popular destination between June and September. The nearby lagoon allows for boat excursions and exploration of an unspoilt natural environment typical of the Friulian coastline.
