Brusino Arsizio

Brusino Arsizio is a small village in the Canton of Ticino, within the district of Lugano, lying on the southern shore of Lake Lugano right on the border with Italy. The village sits at the foot of Monte San Giorgio, a mountain listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site owing to its exceptionally rich Triassic fossil deposits. A cable car connects Brusino Arsizio to Serpiano, giving access to hiking trails across the massif and open views over the lake and surrounding pre-Alpine hills. The area enjoys the mild, sunny climate typical of southern Ticino, which supports the Mediterranean-style vegetation found along the lakeshore. Its position close to the Italian border, opposite Porto Ceresio across the water, makes it a quiet crossing point between the two countries. The village retains a calm, residential character, with traditional stone Ticino houses and narrow lanes typical of lakeside settlements in the region. The surroundings offer opportunities for swimming, boating and walks along the shore, set within a well-preserved natural landscape between lake and mountain.
