Pianezzo

Pianezzo is a small village in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland, incorporated into the municipality of Bellinzona following the 2017 administrative merger. Perched on the hillside above the valley, in the Val Morobbia area, it offers a rural, mountainous setting typical of Ticino, with traditional hamlets, chestnut woodlands and open views over the Bellinzona plain. Its elevation and unspoilt natural surroundings make it a popular starting point for hiking, particularly towards the nearby alpine pastures and the paths linking the village's various hamlets. Its proximity to Bellinzona, the cantonal capital renowned for its three UNESCO World Heritage-listed castles, means visitors can enjoy a peaceful stay while still being just a short drive from cultural sightseeing. Ticino's climate, milder and sunnier than the rest of German-speaking Switzerland, encourages outdoor activities for much of the year. Pianezzo remains a quiet, understated destination, valued for its authenticity, characteristic stone architecture and relaxed pace of life, well away from the tourist bustle found in Ticino's larger towns.
