Mira

Mira is a municipality in the province of Venice, in the Veneto region, located along the Riviera del Brenta, between Venice and Padua. It is crossed by the Naviglio del Brenta, a historic canal lined with Venetian villas dating from the 16th to 18th centuries, including Villa Widmann Rezzonico Foscari and Villa Foscari, known as "La Malcontenta", attributed to the architect Andrea Palladio. These residences reflect the era when Venetian nobility spent their summers here, away from the heat of the lagoon. Mira's area is also linked to the footwear industry, as the Riviera del Brenta is a well-known hub for artisanal and industrial luxury shoe production. Venice, roughly twenty kilometres away, is easily reached for day trips to the lagoon, while Padua, with its monuments and university, is also close by. The Brenta canal is suitable for boat trips, allowing views of the villas from the water. The surrounding countryside is flat, typical of the Venetian plain, with agricultural land and green areas along the waterway, providing a quiet setting away from the nearby urban centres.
