Piombino Dese

Piombino Dese is a small town in the province of Padua, in the Veneto region of north-eastern Italy. It is best known for Villa Cornaro, a sixteenth-century villa designed by the architect Andrea Palladio for the Cornaro family. With its distinctive colonnaded façade typical of Palladian architecture, the villa forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing the city of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto. The town lies within the rural Venetian plain, between Padua and Treviso, offering a quiet countryside setting. The local economy remains tied to agriculture alongside some small-scale craft and industrial activity. The surrounding area makes it easy to visit nearby historic cities such as Padua, Vicenza and Treviso, all within roughly an hour's drive, while Venice, though further afield, remains a popular day-trip destination from this part of the region. The climate is continental, with warm summers and cool winters, characteristic of the Po Valley.
