Bettmeralp

Bettmeralp is a mountain resort in the Valais region of Switzerland, situated at around 1,950 metres on the southern slopes of the Aletsch massif. Accessible only by cable car from the Rhône valley below, the village is notable for being car-free, giving it a peaceful, unspoilt character. It forms part of the Aletsch Arena ski area, linked to the neighbouring resorts of Riederalp and Fiescheralp, offering ski slopes, hiking trails and views over the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In summer, the area draws hikers thanks to an extensive network of marked trails leading to viewpoints over the glacier and surrounding peaks, including the Eggishorn and Bettmerhorn, both reachable by cable car. In winter, the resort offers slopes suited to various skill levels, along with activities such as sledging and cross-country skiing. The alpine climate, with reliable snow cover through the winter season, makes it a popular year-round destination for mountain holidays amid the unspoilt natural surroundings of Valais.
