Ennetbürgen

Ennetbürgen is a municipality in the canton of Nidwalden, in central Switzerland, set directly on the shore of Lake Lucerne, opposite the wooded Bürgenstock headland. The village enjoys a peaceful lakeside setting, with a small harbour and a waterfront promenade well suited to swimming, sailing, and walking or cycling along the shore. Lake Lucerne's steamer services call at the village, offering convenient connections to Lucerne, Stansstad and Beckenried. From the shoreline, views extend across the water to the surrounding peaks, including Mount Pilatus and the Rigi, as well as the Bürgenstock massif. Its proximity to Stans, the cantonal capital of Nidwalden, and to Buochs airfield places Ennetbürgen within a quiet, largely residential setting that also draws visitors. The area provides easy access to classic central Swiss outdoor pursuits, including mountain walking, water sports on the lake, and excursions to nearby resorts such as Klewenalp, reached via neighbouring Beckenried. The temperate, lake-moderated climate makes for pleasant stays from spring through to autumn.
