Bellwald

Bellwald is a mountain village in the Goms region of Upper Valais, Switzerland. Perched at over 1,600 metres above sea level, it is one of Switzerland's car-free alpine resorts: vehicles are left at the edge of the village, with access provided by cable car or funicular, preserving a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. Traditional wooden chalets and narrow lanes reflect the rural heritage typical of Valais. Bellwald is a popular destination in both winter and summer: the colder months bring skiing and winter walking trails, while the warmer season is ideal for hiking and mountain biking amid mid- and high-altitude alpine scenery, with views over the surrounding peaks of Upper Valais. The Goms region, in which the village lies, is known for its unspoilt alpine landscapes and its relatively low-key character compared with more heavily touristed Swiss resorts. The climate is typically alpine, with cold, snowy winters and mild summers, making it well suited to outdoor pursuits throughout the year.
