Grimentz

Grimentz is a mountain village located in the Anniviers valley, in the canton of Valais, at an altitude of around 1,570 metres. Its historic centre is known for its traditional dark-wood chalets, often decorated with geraniums in summer, forming one of the best-preserved examples of traditional Alpine architecture in the Valais region. The village is part of the Grimentz-Zinal ski area, valued for its varied slopes suited to different skill levels and its reliable snow cover in winter. In summer, the surrounding area offers an extensive network of hiking trails linking the villages of the Anniviers valley, with views over peaks such as the Besso and the Bella Tola. Nearby Lake Moiry is another popular natural spot, known for its turquoise waters and dam. Regionally, Valais is renowned for specialities such as raclette and alpine cheese. Grimentz retains an authentic village atmosphere, set apart from larger tourist resorts, while still offering the facilities needed for both skiing and hiking holidays.
