Nessental

Nessental is a small mountain village in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, nestled in the Gadmental valley. Part of the municipality of Gadmen, it lies along the route connecting Innertkirchen to the Sustenpass, an alpine road renowned for its dramatic scenery and popular with cyclists and motorcyclists during the summer months. The surrounding landscape features wooded slopes, alpine meadows and granite peaks typical of this part of the Bernese Alps. The area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, with trails leading to mountain huts and viewpoints overlooking nearby glaciers. In winter, the region draws ski touring and snowshoeing enthusiasts, set within a peaceful, largely unspoilt environment. The village retains a rural character, with traditional chalets and ongoing mountain farming activity. Nessental also serves as a gateway to other valleys within the Bernese Oberland, such as the Haslital. The nearby Gadmenwasser river adds to the natural appeal of the setting, which is valued for its tranquillity and authentic alpine character.
