Bürchen

Bürchen is a village in the Swiss canton of Valais, set on a sunny plateau above the Rhône valley, not far from Visp. This mountain village, at an altitude of around 1,500 metres, lies within the Moosalp region, known for its unspoilt alpine scenery and generous sunshine throughout the year. In winter, Bürchen connects to the family-friendly Bürchen-Unterbäch ski area, suited to beginners and families, alongside cross-country skiing trails around the Moosalp pass. In summer, the surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking, with trails leading through alpine meadows and larch forests, offering views towards Valais peaks such as the Matterhorn and Weisshorn on clear days. The village has retained a traditional character, with wooden chalets typical of the region. The atmosphere is peaceful, well away from the bustle of larger resorts, making it a popular choice for quiet mountain stays, whether in winter or summer, within an unspoilt natural setting in Valais.
