Champery

Champéry is a mountain village in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, situated at the head of the Val d'Illiez valley, beneath the Dents du Midi peaks. The resort forms part of the extensive Portes du Soleil ski area, which links several French and Swiss resorts and offers a wide range of pistes suited to all abilities during the winter months. In summer, the village serves as a popular base for hiking and mountain biking, with a network of marked trails crossing alpine pastures and woodland. The cable car connecting Champéry to Planachaux provides direct access to higher ground and sweeping views of the Dents du Midi range. The village centre retains a traditional Valaisan character, with timber chalets and a peaceful atmosphere typical of mid-altitude Alpine resorts. Champéry also offers sports facilities including an ice rink and an indoor swimming pool, alongside shops and restaurants serving regional cuisine. Sitting at around 1,050 metres above sea level, the village enjoys an Alpine climate with snowy winters and mild summers, supporting outdoor activities throughout the year.
