Giulianova

Giulianova is a seaside town in Abruzzo, in the province of Teramo, on Italy's Adriatic coast. The town is split into two distinct areas: Giulianova Alta, the historic hilltop centre founded in the 15th century by Giulio Antonio Acquaviva along Renaissance-style urban lines, and Giulianova Lido, the modern seafront with its fine sandy beaches and a long palm-lined promenade. The old town is home to the Duomo San Flaviano cathedral, along with remnants of its former defensive fortifications. The resort is popular for its wide, family-friendly beaches and an active fishing port that supplies a local cuisine built around seafood, notably brodetto alla giuliese, a traditional regional fish stew. Behind the town, the peaks of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga mountains provide a striking backdrop visible from the coastline. Giulianova makes a convenient base for exploring the Teramo province, positioned between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennines, with a mild Mediterranean climate well suited to summer holidays.
