Montesilvano

Montesilvano is a seaside resort town in Abruzzo, in the province of Pescara, on Italy's Adriatic coast. The town is split into two distinct areas: Montesilvano Marina, along the seafront, is home to most of the tourist activity, with its long sandy beach and palm-lined promenade, while the older Montesilvano Colle sits on higher ground and retains some traces of its medieval past. Largely developed as a resort from the 1960s onwards, the town offers a wide range of hotels, holiday flats and beach clubs, geared mainly towards family summer holidays. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, sunny summers, makes it well suited to outdoor pursuits and water sports. Its close proximity to Pescara, just a few kilometres away, gives easy access to the amenities of a larger city, including its airport and marina. The Abruzzo hinterland, including the Gran Sasso mountain range, is also within relatively easy reach for day trips away from the coast. Local cuisine draws heavily on Adriatic seafood alongside more traditional Abruzzese dishes.
