Tortoreto Lido

Tortoreto Lido is the seaside resort belonging to the municipality of Tortoreto, in the province of Teramo, on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. It differs from Tortoreto Alto, the historic hilltop centre a few kilometres inland, which offers views over the sea and, on clear days, towards the Gran Sasso mountains. The seafront at Tortoreto Lido features a wide, fine sandy beach lined with numerous beach clubs offering sunbeds and parasols, alongside a promenade suited to walking or cycling. The town forms part of the so-called Riviera delle Palme, known for its mild Adriatic summer climate and shallow waters that make it well suited to families with children. Local cuisine focuses on seafood, with regional specialities such as brodetto alla teramana, a traditional Abruzzese fish stew. Nearby, visitors can explore the neighbouring coastal towns of Giulianova and Alba Adriatica, as well as the more mountainous and rural Abruzzo hinterland further inland. Tortoreto Lido remains primarily a straightforward, family-oriented summer seaside destination rather than a hub for cultural or historical tourism.
