Santo Stefano al Mare

Santo Stefano al Mare is a small coastal town in the Liguria region, in the province of Imperia, on the Riviera dei Fiori, situated between San Remo and Imperia. Its seafront is home to Marina degli Aregai, one of the larger marinas in the area, along with a beach and promenade popular for waterside walks. The town lies along the cycle path that follows the former railway line between San Lorenzo al Mare and San Remo, a flat, scenic route well used by cyclists and walkers. The hamlet of Lingueglietta, part of the municipality, retains a medieval hilltop centre with narrow lanes and stone buildings typical of the Ligurian hinterland. The surrounding region is known for olive oil production, particularly from the local Taggiasca variety, grown on the terraced hillsides nearby. The mild Mediterranean climate supports summer seaside tourism as well as sailing and other water-based activities thanks to the marina. Santo Stefano al Mare makes a convenient base for exploring the Ligurian Riviera, combining coastal and hillside surroundings.
