Loèche-les-Bains

Loèche-les-Bains, known in German as Leukerbad, is a thermal spa town in the Swiss canton of Valais, nestled at the foot of a steep valley beneath the imposing cliffs of the Gemmi massif. Renowned since Roman times for its hot springs, the town owes its reputation to natural thermal waters, now harnessed by several spa complexes, including the well-known Walliser Alpentherme. Perched at around 1,400 metres above sea level, the village serves as a popular base for summer hiking, particularly towards the Gemmi Pass, reachable by cable car, which offers views over Lake Daubensee and the surrounding glaciers. In winter, the resort features a modest but family-friendly ski area, along with cross-country trails. The architecture blends traditional Valais chalets with more modern spa facilities.
