Cadro

Cadro is a village in the Swiss canton of Ticino, incorporated since 2004 into the municipality of Lugano, of which it now forms an outlying district. Located north-east of the city centre, in the Cassarate valley at the foot of Monte Boglia, it offers a quiet residential setting while remaining just a short drive from Lugano's urban amenities. The surrounding landscape, characterised by wooded hills and views over the Ticino peaks, is well suited to hiking and walking, particularly towards Monte Boglia or Monte Brè. The mild, sunny Ticino climate, pleasant for much of the year, makes it ideal for relaxing stays. Lake Lugano lies just a few kilometres away, offering opportunities for water sports and lakeside strolls. The village retains architectural features typical of Ticino settlements, with narrow lanes and stone houses. Cadro therefore makes a practical base for exploring the Lugano region while enjoying a calmer environment than the city centre, appreciated for combining nature, local heritage and easy access to Ticino's main tourist attractions.
