Rigi Kaltbad

Rigi Kaltbad is a village set on the slopes of Mount Rigi, often called the 'Queen of the Mountains', located between Lake Lucerne and Lake Zug, straddling the cantons of Lucerne and Schwyz. This car-free resort is reached by cogwheel railway from Vitznau or Arth-Goldau, or by cable car from Weggis, making it a popular choice for environmentally friendly mountain travel. The village is known for its thermal baths, the Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad, fed by a local mineral spring, with indoor and outdoor pools offering views over the surrounding Alps. Numerous hiking trails start from the village, leading up to the Rigi Kulm summit or along the ridge, with panoramic views of the nearby lakes and, on clear days, the Bernese Alps. In winter, a few gentle ski and sledging runs are available for families. The area remains popular throughout the year thanks to its unspoilt alpine setting, clean mountain air and easy access from Lucerne, making it a favoured destination for quiet mountain breaks combining thermal relaxation with outdoor pursuits.
