Champex

Champex, also known as Champex-Lac, is a mountain village in the Val d'Entremont, in the canton of Valais, sitting at around 1,470 metres above sea level. It is built around its mountain lake, surrounded by spruce forests and overlooked by peaks of the Valais Alps, including the Grand Combin massif. The village is a recognised stop on the Tour du Mont-Blanc and the Chemin du Bisse trail, making it a popular point of passage for summer walkers. The lake is suitable for swimming, pedal boating and fishing, while the path around it makes for an easy, family-friendly walk. The Flore-Alpe Alpine Garden, home to a collection of mountain plants, is also located here. In winter, Champex offers quieter snow activities than larger resorts, such as cross-country skiing, sledging and snowshoe walks. The overall atmosphere remains peaceful and nature-focused, well away from the bustle of major Alpine resorts. The village is reached from Orsières via a mountain road and serves as a convenient base for exploring the Val d'Entremont and its surrounding area.
