Beatenberg

Beatenberg is a village in the canton of Bern, in the Bernese Oberland, set on a sunny plateau high above Lake Thun and facing the Niesen massif. The village stretches along the mountainside, offering unobstructed views of the Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch peaks. A funicular connects Beatenberg with Interlaken, while a cable car leads up to the Niederhorn, the starting point for numerous summer hikes and a small but well-regarded ski area in winter, popular for skiing and sledging. The region is known for its extensive network of waymarked walking trails suited to all abilities, as well as for paragliding, thanks to favourable thermal conditions. The alpine climate, with mild summers and snowy winters, makes it a year-round destination. Traditional timber chalets scattered among meadows and pine forests lend the village its quiet, rustic charm. Beatenberg makes a convenient base for exploring the Bernese Oberland, within easy reach of St Beatus Caves and the shores of Lake Thun, while retaining a peaceful, rural atmosphere throughout the year.
