Ernen

Ernen is a village in the Goms valley, in the German-speaking part of the Valais canton, perched on a hillside above the young Rhône river at around 1,200 metres above sea level. The village is known for its well-preserved historic centre, featuring traditional wooden houses typical of the region, old fountains and a baroque church, all reflecting its heritage tied to local patrician families. The village square and cobbled lanes make for pleasant strolling. Ernen enjoys a dry alpine climate, with mild summers and snowy winters, ideal for outdoor pursuits. In summer, numerous hiking trails link the villages of the Goms valley, offering views of surrounding peaks and nearby glaciers.
