Minusio

Minusio is a municipality in the canton of Ticino, in Italian-speaking Switzerland, set on the shores of Lake Maggiore between Locarno and Ascona. Thanks to the mild, near-Mediterranean climate typical of this area, it is known for its subtropical greenery, with palm trees, camellias and well-tended gardens lining its streets and lakeside promenades. The town makes a convenient base for exploring nearby Locarno, with its old town, lively squares and the funicular up to the Madonna del Sasso sanctuary in Orselina. From Minusio, it's also easy to reach Ascona with its picturesque lanes, as well as the Brissago Islands, accessible by boat and known for their botanical garden.
