Caslano

Caslano is a village in the canton of Ticino, in Italian-speaking Switzerland, located on the south-western shore of Lake Lugano, close to the Italian border and not far from Ponte Tresa. The village is known for its butterfly park (Parco delle Farfalle), one of the region's notable attractions, home to a wide variety of tropical species housed in a greenhouse. The setting benefits from a pleasant lakeside location, with direct access to the waters of Lake Ceresio, ideal for swimming and lakeside walks. The nearby peninsula and hill offer hiking trails with views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Ticino's climate, milder and more Mediterranean than the rest of Switzerland, supports outdoor activities for much of the year. The village retains typical Ticinese architecture, with narrow lanes and stone houses. Its border location also makes day trips into nearby Italy, particularly Lombardy, straightforward.
