Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana is a resort town in the Valais region of Switzerland, set on a sun-drenched plateau overlooking the Rhône valley at around 1,500 metres above sea level. It comprises two linked villages, Crans and Montana, connected to an extensive ski area that stretches as far as Aminona, offering pistes for various skill levels along with cross-country trails in winter. The resort is accessible from Sierre via a funicular railway. Known for its high number of sunshine hours, it draws visitors in both winter and summer. Several mountain lakes, including Lac Grenon and Lac Moubra, add to the scenery and are popular for walking or light water activities during the warmer months. Crans-Montana is also well known for its golf courses, one of which regularly hosts an international professional tournament. The surrounding area offers numerous hiking trails with views over the neighbouring Alpine peaks, including the Weisshorn and, on clear days, the Matterhorn. The resort provides a wide range of accommodation, shops and restaurants, along with sporting facilities such as tennis courts and ice rinks.
