Fiss

Fiss is a mountain village in the Austrian Tyrol, located in the Paznaun valley at around 1,400 metres above sea level, on a sunny plateau overlooking the Inn valley. Together with the neighbouring villages of Serfaus and Ladis, it forms part of a large ski area known for its well-groomed slopes and generally reliable snow cover in winter. The resort is popular with families thanks to its family-friendly infrastructure, including automated lift systems and dedicated beginner areas. In summer, Fiss serves as a base for hiking and mountain biking, with a network of marked trails crossing alpine meadows and coniferous forests typical of the Tyrolean landscape. The village retains an authentic alpine character, with traditional timber-and-stone chalets and a handful of inns serving local Tyrolean cuisine. The views over the surrounding peaks, including those of the Samnaun massif, are a notable natural feature. Fiss remains a sought-after destination for mountain holidays, suited both to winter sports and to summer tourism focused on nature and outdoor activities.
