Gortipohl

Gortipohl is a small village in the Montafon valley, in Austria's Vorarlberg region, forming part of the municipality of St. Gallenkirch. Nestled in the heart of the Alps, surrounded by wooded slopes and peaks often exceeding 2,000 metres, the hamlet offers a typically peaceful and unspoilt alpine setting. The Montafon valley is well known for its ski areas, notably Silvretta Montafon, accessible from neighbouring villages such as Gaschurn and St. Gallenkirch, offering downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. In summer, the valley is well suited to hiking and mountain biking, with a network of marked trails leading up to alpine pastures and mountain huts. The climate, with cold, snowy winters and mild summers, supports year-round tourism. The local architecture retains the traditional character of Vorarlberg villages, featuring timber chalets and farmhouses typical of the valley. Gortipohl therefore serves as a quiet base from which to explore the Montafon, combining alpine scenery, outdoor activities and rural authenticity, away from the busier resort towns.
