Deneuvre

Deneuvre is a small village in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department of Lorraine, north-eastern France, set in the Meurthe valley close to the town of Baccarat, well known for its crystal glassworks. The village lies within a typically rural landscape of this part of Lorraine, characterised by rolling hills, woodland and the Meurthe river running through the area. Deneuvre holds particular historical interest thanks to a Gallo-Roman archaeological site, an ancient sanctuary uncovered during excavations in the 20th century, providing evidence of early settlement in the region. The surrounding countryside offers opportunities for walking and rambling along the valley, as well as the chance to discover the local craft heritage linked to glass and crystal production, historically associated with nearby Baccarat. The climate is semi-continental, with cool winters and mild summers. Deneuvre therefore makes a peaceful base for exploring Lorraine's heritage, combining unspoilt nature with local history, within easy reach of the roads connecting Lunéville and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges.
