Ischgl

Ischgl is a winter sports resort located in the Paznaun Valley in the Austrian Tyrol, at an altitude of around 1,377 metres. It forms part of the Silvretta Arena ski area, linked by cable car to the Swiss resort of Samnaun, providing direct access to skiing across the border. The resort is known for reliable snow conditions, extensive slopes suited to various ability levels, and a modern lift network, including the Silvrettabahn cable car. Ischgl has also gained a reputation for its lively après-ski scene and its season-opening and closing concerts, which draw large crowds each year. The village retains a traditional Tyrolean core, with a parish church and typical chalets, despite significant tourism development in recent decades. Local cuisine features Tyrolean specialities such as Kaiserschmarrn and Knödel, served in the many mountain restaurants dotted across the slopes. Outside the winter season, the surrounding area is well suited to hiking and mountain biking, thanks to its alpine trails and largely unspoilt mountain scenery.
