Lermoos

Lermoos is a mountain village in the Austrian Tyrol, set within the Zugspitz Arena close to the Zugspitze massif, Germany's highest peak. Nestled in a valley surrounded by the Wetterstein and Mieminger mountain ranges, the village enjoys a classic alpine setting, with the protected Lermooser Moos wetland forming part of the backdrop. The Grubigstein ski area offers slopes linked to the neighbouring resort of Ehrwald, while summer draws hikers to a network of marked trails leading up to alpine pastures and nearby mountain lakes. The Tiroler Zugspitzbahn cable car, accessible from the surrounding area, takes visitors to the summit of the Zugspitze, providing views across the Bavarian and Tyrolean Alps. Lermoos retains a rural character, with traditional farmhouses and Tyrolean-style architecture, alongside tourist facilities suited to family holidays. The region is also popular for winter pursuits such as cross-country skiing and tobogganing, as well as mountain biking and paragliding during the summer months.
