Weggis

Weggis is a village on the northern shore of Lake Lucerne, in the canton of Lucerne, at the foot of Mount Rigi. Its notably mild climate for the region, aided by the lake's proximity, allows palm trees and Mediterranean-style planting to thrive along the lakeside promenade, a feature often highlighted about the village. Weggis serves as a starting point for the ascent of the Rigi, reachable by cable car up to Rigi Kaltbad, with views over the Alps and the lake. Boats operated by the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company connect Weggis to Lucerne and other lakeside towns, a convenient way to explore the area without a car. The flower-lined promenade, public lake bathing spots and surrounding walking trails are among the village's main draws. Weggis suits both relaxed lakeside stays and outdoor mountain activities, with quick access to Lucerne by public transport or car.
