Visperterminen

Visperterminen is a village in the canton of Valais, set on a sun-drenched slope above Visp in the Upper Valais region of Switzerland. It is known for having some of the highest vineyards in Europe, cultivated up to around 1150 metres above sea level, where the Heida (or Païen) grape variety is grown, producing a distinctive local white wine. The village enjoys open views over the Vispertal valley and surrounding peaks, including the Mischabel range and the Weisshorn. A network of hiking trails winds through the vineyard terraces, linking Visperterminen to neighbouring villages amid traditional wooden Valais chalets and granaries. In winter, a small family-friendly ski area, the Giw, offers a handful of runs and a chairlift, alongside cross-country skiing trails. The village retains a quiet alpine character, well away from the bustle of larger resorts, and serves as a pleasant base for summer hiking and exploring the high-altitude vineyards of the region.
