Sumvigt

Sumvigt is a small mountain village that forms part of the municipality of Trun, in the Surselva region at the heart of the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Located in the Vorderrhein (Anterior Rhine) valley, at an altitude typical of alpine villages in this area, it enjoys an unspoilt natural setting of pastures, coniferous woodland and surrounding peaks. The region retains a strong Romansh cultural identity, still very much alive in the villages of the Surselva, alongside traditional stone-and-timber architecture characteristic of Graubünden. The climate is continental alpine, with cold, snowy winters well suited to winter sports and mild summers ideal for hiking. The surrounding countryside offers access to walking and mountain-biking trails, as well as nearby ski areas during the winter season. The proximity of Trun, the historic main town of the Surselva, provides access to shops and basic amenities. Sumvigt is well suited to peaceful stays focused on nature and the discovery of an authentic alpine valley, away from the bustle of Graubünden's larger resorts.
