Solduno

Solduno is a district of the town of Locarno, in the canton of Ticino, Italian-speaking Switzerland, with which it merged administratively in the early 2000s. Located at the entrance to the Maggia Valley and close to Lake Maggiore, the village retains a distinctly Ticinese character, with narrow lanes, stone houses and an old village core. The area enjoys a mild Insubric climate, giving rise to Mediterranean-style vegetation such as palm trees and camellias, typical of the Locarno region. Solduno makes a convenient base for exploring the Maggia Valley, known for its gorges, mountain villages and hiking trails, while also offering quick access to central Locarno and its lakeside promenades. Proximity to Ascona and other lakeside towns allows for water-based activities and leisurely walks along the shore. The district is well served by Ticino's public transport network, making it easy to reach the region's main attractions, set between mountains and lake, within a setting that remains relatively authentic despite its urban integration into Locarno.
