Sedrun

Sedrun is a mountain village in the canton of Graubünden, in the Surselva region, now part of the municipality of Tujetsch. Located close to the Oberalp Pass, it forms, together with Andermatt, one of the ski areas in the heart of the Swiss Alps, united under the name Skiarena Andermatt-Sedrun, with runs accessible via the Cuolm da Vi, Milez and Bugnei sectors. The village is served by a railway station on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn line, used by the renowned Glacier Express panoramic train, which links Andermatt to Disentis via Sedrun. The village also holds a place in Swiss engineering history, having been the site of one of the multifunction stations of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, built deep beneath the Alpine massif. The surrounding mountain landscape offers alpine and cross-country skiing in winter, and numerous hiking trails through the Gotthard and Oberalp massifs in summer. The area retains a traditional Grisons character, with stone-and-timber houses typical of the Surselva region, set within a well-preserved Alpine environment.
