Saas-Fee

Saas-Fee is a mountain village in the Valais region of Switzerland, situated at around 1,800 metres above sea level at the foot of the Mischabel range, home to several peaks exceeding 4,000 metres, including the Alphubel, Täschhorn and Dom. The village is known for being car-free, with visitors required to leave their vehicles at the entrance to the resort and get around on foot or via small electric vehicles. Saas-Fee features a year-round skiable glacier, the Fee Glacier, making it a popular destination for both summer and winter skiing. The resort offers an extensive ski area along with sledging runs and hiking trails in summer, with access made easier by several lifts, including the underground Metro Alpin funicular. The unspoilt alpine setting, surrounded by glaciers, draws both winter sports enthusiasts and summer hikers. The village retains traditional Valais architecture, with wooden chalets typical of the region. Local gastronomy showcases Swiss specialities such as raclette and fondue, often served in mountain restaurants.
