Flims

Flims is a mountain resort located in the canton of Graubünden, in eastern Switzerland, at the heart of the Surselva region. Nestled at around 1,100 metres above sea level, it enjoys a striking natural setting of forests, lakes and rock faces, notably near the Ruinaulta, often referred to as the Swiss Grand Canyon, carved by the gorges of the Anterior Rhine. The resort forms part of the Flims-Laax-Falera ski area, well known for its varied slopes suited to families and experienced skiers alike, as well as its snowboarding and freeride facilities. In summer, the area becomes a popular destination for hiking, mountain biking and water sports on Lake Cauma and Lake Cresta, the latter renowned for its turquoise waters. The village retains a traditional alpine character, with chalets and architecture typical of Graubünden, while offering accommodation and services geared towards year-round tourism. Flims also serves as a convenient base for exploring the Surselva valley and its neighbouring villages, set within an unspoilt mountain environment appreciated for its clean air and striking contrasts between rock, forest and water.
