Ried im Oberinntal

Ried im Oberinntal is a small village in Austrian Tyrol, located in the Landeck district, at the heart of the Oberinntal (Upper Inn Valley), on the banks of the River Inn. This alpine area is characterised by the typical landscape of western Tyrol, with wooded slopes rising towards peaks often exceeding 2,500 metres. The village lies close to Landeck, the district's main town, and not far from the entrance to the Paznaun Valley, which leads to well-known ski resorts such as Ischgl and Kappl. The region is popular for summer hiking, with numerous marked trails leading up to alpine pastures and mountain huts, as well as for winter sports thanks to the reliable snow cover of the surrounding mountains. Local architecture reflects traditional Tyrolean style, featuring steep-roofed houses with wooden façades. The village economy relies partly on mountain farming and rural tourism. The climate is typically alpine, with cold, snowy winters and mild summers well suited to outdoor pursuits.
