Alvaneu Dorf

Alvaneu Dorf is a small village in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, located in the Albula valley within the region of the same name. Together with the neighbouring hamlet of Alvaneu Bad, known for its mineral springs, it forms the municipality of Alvaneu. The village sits on a terrace above the valley, surrounded by coniferous forests and meadows typical of the rural Graubünden landscape. The Albula line, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Rhaetian Railway, runs through the valley nearby, connecting the area to Filisur and Bergün. This alpine setting makes it a popular base for summer hiking, with numerous marked trails leading up to the surrounding pastures, as well as for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter thanks to reliable snow cover at altitude. The traditional stone-and-timber architecture, characteristic of villages in the Albula region, gives Alvaneu Dorf an authentic and peaceful atmosphere. Its proximity to livelier resorts such as Davos or Lenzerheide also provides easy access to more developed tourist facilities while staying in a quiet, unspoilt environment.
