Sanchey

Sanchey is a village in the Vosges department, located a few kilometres west of Épinal in the Grand Est region of France. It is best known for Lac de Bouzey, an artificial lake popular for swimming, sailing, canoeing and fishing during the warmer months. The lakeside area offers walking paths and picnic spots, along with supervised beaches in summer. The village itself retains a typically rural Vosges character, surrounded by green countryside ideal for walking or cycling, particularly towards the nearby hills and the Vosges forest. Its proximity to Épinal also provides easy access to shops, restaurants and cultural sites such as the Saint-Maurice Basilica and the Museum of Images. The semi-continental climate features moderately warm summers and cool, occasionally snowy winters, typical of the Vosges massif. Sanchey therefore makes a peaceful base for exploring the local nature and heritage, combining water sports, hiking opportunities and a taste of Lorraine's regional character.
