Fraize

Fraize is a village in the Vosges department, nestled in the Meurthe valley at the foot of the Vosges mountain range, close to the Col du Bonhomme pass linking Lorraine to Alsace. This mid-mountain village enjoys a continental climate, with cold winters ideal for snow sports and mild summers well suited to hiking. The surrounding Vosges forest, dense and well maintained, offers numerous marked trails for walking, mountain biking and observing local wildlife. Fraize lies just a few kilometres from resorts such as Gérardmer and La Bresse, as well as the Hohneck massif, both popular for skiing and outdoor pursuits. The nearby Route des Crêtes also provides easy access to Alsace and its wine-growing villages. The region is known for its mountain cuisine, particularly cheeses such as Munster and specialities made with bilberries. Fraize therefore makes a convenient base for exploring the Vosges, combining unspoilt nature, rural heritage and outdoor activities suited to every season.
