Basse sur le rupt

Basse-sur-le-Rupt is a village in the Vosges department, tucked within the Vosges mountain range, close to La Bresse and Gérardmer. The setting is one of mid-mountain landscapes, with fir forests, meadows and watercourses typical of the region, including the Rupt stream that runs through the village. Local architecture retains examples of traditional Vosges houses with wooden balconies, characteristic of rural dwellings in the valley. Its location makes it a convenient base for walking and mountain biking in summer, as well as winter sports thanks to the nearby ski areas of the Hohneck massif and the La Bresse resort. The Vosges lakes, particularly Gérardmer and Longemer, lie just a few kilometres away and are popular for water activities and lakeside walks. The mountain climate brings cold, snowy winters and mild summers, supporting tourism throughout the year. Local cuisine draws on Vosges traditions, featuring farm produce along with cheese and red berry specialities typical of the area.
