Hericourt

Hericourt is a town in the Haute-Saône department, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, located just a few kilometres from Montbéliard and Belfort, and not far from the Swiss border. The town developed along the Lizaine, a small river running through its centre, and retains the remains of its former hilltop castle, now converted into a park that overlooks the rooftops and surrounding valley. The local built heritage reflects an industrial past linked to textiles and metalworking, activities that shaped the area's history before the rise of the automotive industry in the nearby Montbéliard-Sochaux basin. Thanks to its location, Hericourt makes a convenient base for exploring the Territoire de Belfort, the foothills of the southern Vosges mountains and the Ballon d'Alsace, both popular for hiking and outdoor pursuits. The climate is semi-continental, with cool winters and moderately warm summers.
