Dun sur meuse

Dun-sur-Meuse is a small town in the Meuse department, in the Grand Est region of north-eastern France, set on the banks of the River Meuse close to Verdun. This part of France was heavily marked by the First World War, as the Verdun area was one of the main battlegrounds of the conflict, and several memorial sites and military cemeteries can be found nearby. The town lies along the Meuse à vélo cycle route, which follows the river and links a number of riverside villages amid a peaceful, green countryside. Fishing, walking and nature watching are popular pursuits along the valley. The climate is temperate oceanic, with cool winters and mild summers, typical of the Grand Est region. Dun-sur-Meuse makes a quiet base from which to explore the Meuse valley, its rolling farmland, woodlands and the historical heritage connected to both World Wars, while enjoying the calm of a traditional French village setting.
